Grieg: Piano Concerto
Sibelius: Finlandia
Lars-Erik Larsson: Symphony No. 3
Grieg: Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak

Rupert Egerton-Smith – piano
Norwich Philharmonic Orchestra
conducted by Matthew Andrews

The orchestra conjures up the Northern Lights of Scandinavia with this programme of music by Nordic composers. Rupert Egerton-Smith is the soloist in the Piano Concerto by Edvard Grieg, our first performance in over 20 years of this best-loved of all piano concertos. The other main work in the programme is the wonderful Third Symphony by Swedish composer Lars-Erik Larsson, delightfully tuneful and colourful music that certainly deserves to be better known.
The concert also features Sibelius’s popular ode to Finnish nationalism, Finlandia, and Grieg’s Funeral March in Memory of Rikard Nordraak, a deeply moving tribute to his fellow Norwegian composer who died tragically young.

Tickets priced from £15 to £25 (£8 to £12 for under 26) are available online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/norwichphil
